I decided to create a look inspired by the Neon Demon featuring Elle Fanning. Elle has such a beautiful grace and elegance to her and I wanted to incorporate that aura of color with a more edgy, white neon liner. Whenever I post a neon look, I always get questions on how I created the effect. Surprisingly, neon liner is actually super easy to achieve! So, without further ado, here is how I achieved this soft neon look:
Step 1: First, I primed my eye using e.l.f Cosmetics’ Shadow Lock Lid primer. This is a great primer if you have drier lids as it won’t emphasis any unwanted texture. Once I applied the primer all over my upper and lower lid, I set it using Highlight #2 from IBY Beauty’s Highlight & Contour palette. This is a matte shade that matches my skin tone, so feel free to use your usual setting powder if you can’t get your hands on this awesome palette! Now that my lid is prepped, I grabbed a simple flat concealer brush and dipped into my BH Cosmetics Glamorous Blush palette. These blushes are very long lasted and pigmented, so they’re well suited on the eye. For this look I first applied the rosy blush shade (A) from my inner browbone to where it meets my inner corner. Using a sweeping motion, I created this same sort of scooping shape from my outer corner down to sweep below my lower lid. Using the same brush, I went into the rich fuchsia shade (B) and applied this over the last pink, localizing it to the middle of the already applied color.
Step 2: Using the same blusher palette, I now took a fluffy eyeshadow brush and applied the light shimmer pink shade (C) all over my lid, up to my brow, and across my lower lid. Don’t be afraid to be fast and messy with this shade!
Step 3: Now, time to get that liner on there! You will need a steady hand for this, so place your elbow on a firm surface if needed. Using a wet eyeliner brush dipped into the the NYX Cosmetics Gel Liner in White, gentled apply the curved lines. For this look, I thickened the inner most portion of the liner, but if you want you can keep it a more consistent width.
Step 4: If you like the stark white neon look, you can skip this step. But because I wanted my neon liner to look a little softer, I traced over the white liner with the pink shimmer shade (C) we used earlier. This makes the lightest portion of the liner belong to the color around it, making it appear that the pink coloration is radiating from the white line we just created. Again, this step is optional!
Step 5: Using the Backlight Highlight palette from BH Cosmetics, I took On Point (a pink iridescent shade) and mixed it with Illusion (a purple-pink duochrome) and applied this around the majority of the pink shades that are already placed. You can kinda choose where you want the highlight to go, just keep in mind that this highlight is meant to represent the light traveling through the air, so you can kinda place it wherever you want!
Step 6: Using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, I lightly applied the matte grey shade (D) from the Marc Jacob’s Beauty The Tease palette. I applied this with a very light hand to just the outer portion of my outer crease. I chose to add this shade to give it some depth – you can go darker if you want!
Step 7: On the inner corner I placed some purple duochrome glitter powder from Tattoo Junkee. This glitter was a limited edition or was discontinued, so I can’t find a source for it online.
Step 8: Apply your favorite mascara and wa-la! Today I used one of my favorites: e.l.f Cosmetics’ Mineral Infused Mascara.
Anyways, I hope you found this look somewhat helpful! If you recreate any of my looks please tag me in your photo or use the hashtag #Harlibi – I love seeing what you come up with!
